Armistice Day Hike

PROGRAM CANCELED
Fairfield County is at a Red Level 3 Public Health Emergency Alert

Saturday, November 7, 2020 | 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Smeck Park
7395 Basil Rd
Baltimore, OH 43105

On November 11, 1918, World War I effectively came to an end when an armistice went into effect in Europe. To commemorate the occasion, the date became known as Armistice Day. In the United States, the government later opted for the name Veterans Day to honor all American veterans, living and dead.

In remembrance of the armistice, a group of WWI living historians from Baltimore Community Museum will be camped along the trail at Smeck Park to show visitors what life was like for US service members in Europe at the end of the war.

This is not a guided group hike with a specific start and stop time.  You may start at any time, but reenactors will be onsite and in character from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  The trail is two-miles long and takes about 45-60 minutes to complete.

Masks are Required*

*Please wear a mask when in close proximity to other park visitors, even if outside. Of course, a mask is not required when outside and not close to other guests.

For the protection of visitors, volunteers, and staff, and to meet government mandates, changes have been made to our public programs. A mask covering both mouth and nose must always be worn while inside any Fairfield County Park District building or structure and/or when within six feet of others. If you cannot or will not wear a mask, please choose to attend programs when there is no public emergency alert in Fairfield County.

Public Health Emergency Alerts

If the public health emergency alert in Fairfield County is changed to Level 3/Red or above, this program will be canceled.
