Do you know what Ohio’s State Native Fruit is?  That’s right – the pawpaw!  Join the Education Specialist to learn about these delicious fruits.  After a short introduction about the history and science of the pawpaw, we will take a two-mile hike and search for ripe fruits to taste.  There will be frequent stops for interpretation.

What to Expect

The Paw Paw and Walnut Creek trails combine to make a two-mile-long loop.  There are stairs to the ravine, the terrain is uneven, and there are some hills.  Wear comfortable shoes. The trail could be muddy, so select your footwear to match weather conditions.

Where to Meet

Meet in the open picnic shelter toward the back of the park enclosed shelter house behind the playground.

What to Bring

We suggest you bring drinking water, sunscreen, and/or insect repellent.  You should always check for ticks after being outdoors.

Pets

Well-mannered pets are welcome at this program.  They must always be under control and on a leash no longer than 6’. If your dog shows aggression toward people or other dogs, you may be asked to separate from the group. For the health and safety of all, pick up and properly dispose of pets’ waste.
