A Rock Mill Holiday
(Weather Permitting, see Description & Notices below)
Stebelton Park at Rock Mill
1429 Rockmill Place NW
Lancaster, OH 43130
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season with a visit to this historical site – Rock Mill, a restored gristmill from the early 1800s. Cookies, hot drinks, and peppermint treats will be served to visitors. Kids (of all ages) can make a craft and get a fun coloring page.
Except for special events like this one, the mill is now closed.
Rock Mill Days 2024
The park is open year-round during daylight hours. The mill, though, is only open during Rock Mill Days. The 2023 season has ended but will resume in 2024, May through October, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays, and from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sundays. On the last Sunday of each month, there are milling demonstrations. Corn is ground the way it was done 200 years ago! You may even be able to help use the bolter to sift the meal and bag it.
The Documentary, “Rock Mill: Saving an Original”
Rock Mill stands at least 90’ above the gorge of Hocking River Falls. In 1905, it closed for business and fell into disrepair. After a decade-long restoration effort ending in 2017, it roared to life and milled grain again for the first time in over 100 years! Come see this amazing piece of history, enjoy the view from Rock Mill Covered Bridge and the beautiful setting!
Want to learn more? “Rock Mill: Saving an Original” is an hour-long documentary that chronicles the decade-long restoration of this amazing gristmill. We recommend you watch it before you visit! It will enhance your appreciation of the hard work put in by expert craftsmen and volunteers. Watch it again after your visit! It is on our website and our YouTube Channel for you to watch at any time.
