Wonderful Wild Edibles

Woah, don’t eat that!  Unless you are 100% positive you know a plant is safe to eat, don’t!  Join our education specialist to learn how to identify some wild edibles.  After a mile-long hike in search of delectable plants, we will return to Cruit House (the log-framed house) to do some tasting, if you wish.

Depending on weather conditions, it could be muddy and slippery.  Wear appropriate shoes or boots and outerwear.

Where to Meet
Meet at Cruit House, the log-framed house that is seen when first entering the park.  Please do not bring pets to this particular program.  See more about pets, below.

REMINDERS

What to Bring
Potable water is not available at this location.  Bring your own drinking water.  Insect repellent is highly recommended.  Depending on weather conditions, you may want to bring a sunhat and/or sunglasses and sunscreen.

Pets
Well-mannered pets are welcome at Smeck Park. They must be under control at all times and on a leash no longer than 6’. For the health and safety of all, pick up and properly dispose of pets’ waste.

If severe weather is forecast or before traveling a long distance to attend, it is recommended you check to be sure the program has not been canceled, postponed, or rescheduled.  It is best to check the program in the Events section of our Facebook page, our website’s Calendar of Events, or call 740 652-4422 or 614 321-4833 ext 103.
