The big. The bad. The invasive plant! After a brief introduction to the new nature center, you will learn about invasive versus native plants, which invasive species are in Fairfield County, and which plants native to this area are good alternatives for planting. Then join our Education Specialist for a 2.5-mile hike through the park. There will be frequent stops for interpretation.

REMINDERS
What to Bring
Bring your own drinking water. Especially if you plan to spend time at the park before or after the program, depending on weather conditions and the time of year, you may want to bring sunscreen and/or insect repellent.
Trails
Trail conditions will vary based on weather; be prepared with appropriate footwear to hike in muddy or slippery conditions. Oak Trail is approximately 1 mile long and has a set of steps. Hickory Trail is approximately 1.5 miles long. Both are considered easy-to-moderate.
Pets Welcome on Hickory Trail
Pets are not allowed in Mambourg Nature Center nor on Oak Trail. Pets are welcome on Hickory Trail! They must be under control at all times and on a leash no longer than 6’. For the health and safety of all, pick up and properly dispose of pets’ waste.
If Severe Weather is Forecast
If severe weather is forecast or before traveling a long distance to attend, it is recommended you check to be sure the program has not been canceled, postponed, or rescheduled. It is best to check for notices in the Events section of our Facebook page, our website’s Calendar of Events, or call 740 681-7249 or 740 652-4422.
