Interpretive Historians from Baltimore Community Museum Portraying Armistice Day

1:00-3:00 p.m.

Armistice Day – The End of the First World War

Smeck Park
7395 Basil Rd

Baltimore, OH 43105

On this 105th anniversary of the armistice, there will be a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m.

At 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 1918, World War I effectively came to an end when an armistice ended fighting on the Western Front. To commemorate the occasion, the date became known as Armistice Day. In the United States, the government later opted for the name Veterans Day to honor all American veterans, living and dead.

A group of WWI living historians will show visitors what life was like for Americans serving in Europe at the end of the war. Visitors will be able to interact with interpreters portraying battle-weary soldiers and aid workers who were sent overseas to provide soldiers with comforts from home.

This is not a presentation that begins and ends at a certain time. Rather, the living historians will be onsite from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Presented in partnership with Baltimore Community Museum.

Light refreshments will be served in the open picnic shelter near the Paw Paw Trail trailhead.
