CANCELED due to COVID-19 Pandemic
Visit Fairfield County’s
“Bridges & Backroads Tour of Fairfield County”
Two Dates – Saturday, September 12 & Sunday, September 13, 2019 | 1:00-5:00 p.m.
The tour begins at Alley Park (one of Lancaster’s city park locations), where you will join the tour guide to explore the George Hutchins covered bridge. Then, back to the time when horses ruled the roads. It will be an amazing afternoon of exploration through scenic ‘fair fields’ and to another five beautiful covered bridges in the county.
Admire the Hannaway and Mink Hollow covered bridges from the comfort of your motor coach as the guide shares history and stories passed down from generations before us.
A stop at Johnson covered bridge at our Two Glaciers Park will give you an opportunity to examine the craftsmanship and detail of these architectural wonders.
Then, on to Lockville Canal Park where you will see remains of three Ohio & Erie Canal locks and hear about life on the canal in the 1800s. There you can also stroll through Hartman No 2 covered bridge, a perfect example of a “kissing bridge”.
The last stop of the tour will be at Stebelton Park at Rock Mill where you can view the falls from Rock Mill Covered Bridge and listen to the Hocking River roaring through the gorge. Travel back to 1824 by touring Rock Mill and learn the history of this amazing engineering masterpiece and the restoration efforts that brought it back to life.
