27th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count
GBBC Hike
February 16, 2024
On the first day of this annual worldwide four-day event, join us in the nature center at Mambourg Park . Arrive between 10:00-10:30 a.m. for refreshments and to learn how to participate. From the nature observation area of the building you can watch birds at the feeders or at the pond.
At 11:00 a.m., join our Education Specialist for a guided hike on Oak Trail to search for and identify birds we see or hear in the forest. Grab your binoculars, camera, note pad and pens, bundle up, and head outside! Tally the kinds and numbers of birds you see in a 15-minute or longer period. Then return to the nature center, review and share your sightings, and submit the count results to birdcount.org.
If you cannot join us this day, you can still participate! Conduct your count from the comfort of your own home, your own backyard, or at any of these parks on one or more days of the count (February 16-19). Get details at birdcount.org.
