Life in Lockville: Children & Chores

Lockville Canal Park
5895 Pickerington Rd
Carroll, OH  43112

By the age of six, children who lived in Canal towns or on canal boats had many chores!  Those on boats were often steering or working as hoggees caring for mules.  In Lockville, children would have been farming, cooking, helping on the boats in exchange for a few pennies, and opening and closing up to seven locks at all hours of the days and nights!

What to Expect

Interpretive Historian, Jack Campbell, will share stories about the daily lives of children living in Lockville in the late 1800s!
