DEMO PAINTING

10:00–11:30.  Using the impasto technique, artist Robert “Bob” Kroeger will create a painting of an old barn.  The audience may watch and chat with Bob as he works!  At the end of the program, the painting will go to the winner of the raffle (details below).

BARN STORIES

11:30–1:00.  When the painting is finished, Bob will explain the Ohio Barn Project and tell related barn stories.

“HISTORIC BARNS OF OHIO” BOOK SALE & SIGNING BY AUTHOR

1:00–2:00.  “Historic Barns of Ohio” by Kroeger preserves Ohio history through oil paintings and essays.  It features 88 paintings and 88 essays representing all 88 counties.  The book will be available to purchase for $25 and the author will sign your copy.

SILENT AUCTION

1:00–2:00.  Three of Kroeger’s paintings will be on site and up for silent auction!  They have special meaning to Fairfield County, especially Violet Township!  The paintings are titled:

“The New”
The 1889 barn on Coyote Run that has been restored and repurposed, called “The Tabernacle,” in which this program will be held!

“The Old”
The 1917 barn at Coyote Run.

“The Dormer”
This is a painting of one of the dormers on the house that was donated by Coyote Run to Fairfield County Park District.  That house is to become the Park District’s new office.

BROWN BAG

This is a brown bag event so bring your favorite munchies and drinks.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Robert Kroeger is a second-generation artist.  He began the Ohio Barn Project in 2012, finishing in 2020.  In March 2021, the History Press released his book, “Historic Barns of Ohio.”  He is also a philanthropist; nearly all of his paintings go to fundraisers for historical societies and other nonprofits.  His next goal is to capture 5,000 old barns and their stories!

RAFFLE

At the end of the program, the demo painting will go to the winner of the raffle.  Raffle tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20; they are available at The Humble Crate, Artisan Market Place, at 18 E Columbus St in Pickerington.  Fifty percent of the proceeds go to the artist, the other half will be donated to Fairfield County Park District!
