Free your inner artist! Anyone who wants to paint or sketch in plein air, come! Artists who would like help or suggestions may ask the experienced advisor* who will be on hand at each session.
*Lisa Schorr, Director of Arts Education for Decorative Arts Center of Ohio, will be the advisor.
What is Plein Air?
The French adjective “plein air” means “open air” or “outdoor”. Plein air painting is ‘the act of painting outdoors in contrast with painting inside in a studio. It allows an artist to see the true colors of nature and capture the mood and feeling of a place.’
What to Bring
As is customary in a plein air setting, bring your own chair or stool, easel or drawing board, and art supplies. An artist may use his choice of medium – oil, acrylic or watercolor paint, charcoal, pencil, etc., plus canvas or sketch pad. | Depending on weather conditions, sunscreen and/or insect repellent may be advised. You may also want to bring your own drinking water.
Where Do I Go?
Wander public areas of the parks/preserve and select a location that inspires you! Need suggestions? We will be glad to help find a spot that ‘speaks’ to you!
Schedule
As you wish, come to any or all of the Monday sessions.
