The forest provides more than fresh air; it provides food! Picking plants or foraging at any park is never allowed except in a park-sponsored guided program such as this. Information about where foraging can be done will be provided during this program. After a short presentation, there will be a one-mile-long hike to search for wild edibles. We may even taste some of what we find.
Important Safety Note: Never eat any plant you cannot identify with 100% certainty. Ask a foraging expert to confirm your findings.
This program is for adults ages 18 and older. Even though pets are allowed in the park, please do not bring pets to this particular program. See more about pets below.
Where to Meet
Meet in the nature center just before 1:00 p.m. Reminder: Pets are not allowed inside the nature center.

What to Bring
Bring your own drinking water. Potable water is not available at this location.
Trails
Trail conditions will vary based on weather; be prepared with appropriate footwear to hike in muddy or slippery conditions.
OAK TRAIL is about one mile long, includes a set of steps and a footbridge, and may be considered easy-to-moderate. Pets are not allowed on Oak Trail nor inside the nature center.
HICKORY TRAIL is about one-and-a-half miles long, includes footbridges, and may be considered easy-to-moderate. Pets are welcome on Hickory Trail. They must be under control at all times and on a leash no longer than 6’. For the health and safety of all, pick up and properly dispose of pets’ waste.
