Stargazing!

Smeck Park
7395 Basil Rd; Baltimore

On September 4, just one day after the half-full stage, the moon will be in the south and easily viewed.  Even before full dark it should be bright, and Saturn will be low in the southeast.

Join us for a night you won’t forget!  Look into a telescope to see the stars, moon, and possibly a planet!  Constellations and the science of stargazing will be discussed.

After exploring the sky, stay for a short hike into the forest for some fun nighttime activities.

Where to Meet

Meet in the main parking lot.  You will be guided to the stargazing area.

What to Bring

You may want to bring a chair for stargazing.  It will be dark and it could get chilly, so bring a flashlight and dress for the weather including good walking shoes.  Oh, yes, those pesky insects!  Insect repellent might be a good idea, too.  Bring your own drinking water; there is no potable water at this location.

No Pets

Although pets on leash are welcome at Smeck Park, we ask that you do not bring pets to this program.
