Stream Investigation

Cross Mound Park
11615 16th Rd SW in Stoutsville
(near Tarlton)

Join Miranda, Education Specialist, for an in-depth investigation of Salt Creek. After a short discussion about the area, streams, and macroinvertebrates, the real fun begins!  We will use nets, minnow traps, even our hands to collect organisms from the stream.  Using a health assessment sheet, we will determine whether the stream is healthy.  ID sheets, nets, and magnifying glasses will be provided.

There will be uneven footing in the creek and it may be slippery!  Wear waterproof shoes or shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.  Shoes are required; no one will be allowed in the creek with bare feet.

What to Bring:  You may want to bring water, snacks, a second pair of shoes and socks, sunscreen.

You’re invited to stay after the program and walk Cross Mound Trail with us!
