“Take a Hike Day” Hike

Celebrate national “Take a Hike Day” with Fairfield County Park District staff!  First, there will be a short discussion about hiking safety and best practices.  Then, we will set out on a discovery hike, making frequent stops for interpretation.  Who knows what we will see!

The walk will be a total of 2.5 miles.  The first 1.5 miles will be on Hickory Trail.  The last mile will be on Oak Trail*.  The terrain is uneven, there are some hills, and a set of stairs.

*Pets
Although pets on leash are welcome on Hickory Trail at Mambourg Park, they are not allowed on Oak Trail.  Keep that in mind when deciding whether to bring you furry best friends.

Where to Meet
Meet in the front parking lot near the kiosk.

What to Bring
We suggest you bring drinking water.  Dress for the weather including good walking shoes.

REMINDERS

Drinking Water
Brink your own drinking water.  Potable water is not available at this location.  If you plan to spend time outside at the park before the program, and depending on weather conditions, you may want to bring sunscreen and/or insect repellent.

Hours
Mambourg Park is open year-round during daylight hours.
