Come to see plein air artists creating works inspired by nature. Artists will be working along Wahkeena’s trails, at places that ‘spoke to them’, creating images in their mediums of choice. Stroll through the autumn forest, watch as they work, and feel free to ask questions.

What is Plein Air?
The French adjective “plein air” means “open air” or “outdoor”. Plein air painting is the act of painting outdoors instead of in a studio. It allows an artist to see the true colors of nature and capture the mood and feeling of a place.
Be an Artist!
Inside Wahkeena Nature Center, learn the art of Mandala Dot Painting. Paint your own masterpiece to take home with you! An instructor will be on hand to help you get started and provide suggestions if you would like advice.
What to Bring
Strollers and wagons are strongly discouraged. Bring your own drinking water. Depending on weather conditions, you may want sunscreen and/or insect repellent.
